How much workload can I put on this engine?

I started to make a game in rpg boss. Going into database I created 100 items and 20 characters. Playing through the game every time it try’s to enter combat the screen goes black and it freezes up. Is this because I made an error with the weapons and characters? Or is the system not strong enough to handle so much strain?
